Sorry, I can't work it out from stats. site. SO, Does anyone know approximately how many people die each day in UK - in total - from all causes - a ballpark figure or estimate please. Suggest 50,000.

536,861 people died in England and Wales in the year 2000, so on straight division this works out at about 1,470 a day ' and the average death rates for the past few years are broadly similar. Dunno about Scotland and Northern Ireland.

From the Nat Stats site: 10.12 deaths per thousand per year in the year 2000.
From a population of 58,789,194 (in 2001) that works out at 594,947 deaths per year or 1643 people per day. On *average*!
