I want to grow my hair long but i use hair straighteners every day coz my hair looks like i've been dragged through a hedge backwards if i don't straighten it (it's wavey but not in a good way). Anyway, my problem is i get really dry ends so have to keep going to get my hair trimmed, hence my hair is not growing longer. I use heat protect spray before straightening it but don't know how to get out of this viscious circle. Thanks for any help!

Hi Ib24, the heated irons do dry and damage your hair a lot. Try using a deep conditioning oil once a week. And if you can, try not to use the irons every day. Good luck
I have just discovered Sunsilk (Semi-Chem) leave in conditioner. It is fabulous.I also use a John Frieda deep conditioner which you leave in for 20 minutes with your hair wrapped in a hot towel.Hope either one works.
When you condition your hair try leaving it in the ends of you hair for an extra few minutes. Also I used 'John Frieda Frizz Ease Serum Step 5' and spray it on my hair before I straighten it. It works wonders.
Get a life! Staighteners have only become fashionable in the last 5 years or so. What did you do before then???

Thanks for the top 3 posts. I think i'll try some leave in conditioner.

Sammy Snake - as i said above, i looked like i'd been dragged through a hedge backwards. Now i have the choice not to look like that. Are you a bloke or do you already have perfectly straight/perfectly curly hair?!

I to have wavy hair but not in a good way and before straighteners became fashionable I had to keep my hair short. Thanks to straighteners I can now have longer hair. If you get a decent pair of straigheners you shouldn't have to use them every day. I use mine three times a week and use a heat protector before drying my hair - currently L'Oreal's Studio Hot straight and after straightening use Beverly Cobella's Weighless Wonder Anti Frizz Hair serum (6.99 from Boots - a bit expensive but lasts 3 or 4 months) and find this keeps my in good condition. Hope that helps.
Hi again Ib24 I just noticed in your posting you said you use a heat protection SPRAY the two I mentioned in my previous answer are creams rather than sprays and I think they work better. Good Luck!
