Last evening and overnight on Sunday, I fell  without warning. I think I know why - my daughter is an alcoholic and about 18 months ago she went into rehab and we thought that was it. On Saturday we learned that she has relapsed. I started to shake/tremble and it was awful. I lost the strength in my arms and legs. I was on the floor for ages and the paramedics came. They were lovely. Yesterday evening it happened again and I ended up on the kitchen floor. Fortunately I had my phone with me and was able to ring my daughter who came round and got me up. It's a b......!  Another reason to have a Lifeline, otherwise I would still be on the floor! Has anyone had anything similar? It's not recommended!

Has it not been diagnosed ?

Question Author

With what? I had loads of tests for long covid a few months ago and everything came back perfect. I'm 83. The paramedics said my bp was fine.

If we knew what it was we wouldn't need it to be diagnosed.

Shaking and failing arms & legs need to be investigated.

Question Author

The paramedics advised me to get in touch with my doctors which I will do tomorrow.

It sounds like it may be linked to stress, but clearly your doctor is going to know better than any of us.

It could be a trigger reaction as you revisit bad news.

I don't have serious stuff going on like yourself but I do get a bit lightheaded when I revisit some stuff from the past.

For andy's benefit, I'm not joking or making light, for a change.

How was your breathing when you fell? Although it was after you had worrying news, I`m wondering if you hyperventilated. That can make you fall and/or pass out as well.

My breathing was fine. I do think it was a reaction to the news about my daughter. Hopefully now she sees how I've reacted it has been a wake up call for her. An awful experience though.

Just spent the afternoon in local hospital after it happened again. Low sodium, so I can cope with that! Got to stay in to go on a drip.

I doubt if it was brought on solely by emotion, sounds more like the mini-stroke which I had, brought on I'm convinced by a reaction to the Moderna covid vaccine, though medics turn a blind eye to that suggestion.

I am not saying that this is what you have but when my husband had similar symptoms  it turned out to be  something called Labyrinth and vestibular disorder. The part of our hearing that affects our balance and movement .He had to do some special exercises and his balance improved.

Common problem with hyponatremia or low sodium. Are you drinking too much water?

Question Author

calmck my daughter (the pharmacist) recently told me to drink more but it turns out it was all of tablets apart from thyroxine. They've given me a whole fresh lot of tablets so must hope they work.
