Do you not think someone got the imperial and metric measurement wrong?

A male giraffe can grow to about 16-18 foot, not metres.

Many years ago we travelled behind one of those for a while (giraffe included ) in  Bedfordshire.  That's brought back memories.  Perhaps on its way to Whipsnade?  They sell a few life sized model zoo animals in a large garden centre near us (at a phenomenal  price)  they had a giraffe there.  Mr L thought he would like one looking over our tall garden hedge facing the road!  There are quite a few country estates around us. They could afford them!
