I hve to admit to having had no idea who Kym Marsh is until I googled just now.  (Link here anyway: https://metro.co.uk/2024/01/12/kym-marsh-announces-death-father-prostate-cancer-20107796/ ).However (having been diagnosed with highly-aggressive, incurable Stage 4a prostate cancer about 4 years ago) I'm all too aware that it kills over 12,000...

Sad, of course, but why is that of interest?

I hve to admit to having had no idea who Kym Marsh is until I googled just now.  (Link here anyway: https://metro.co.uk/2024/01/12/kym-marsh-announces-death-father-prostate-cancer-20107796/ ).

However (having been diagnosed with highly-aggressive, incurable Stage 4a prostate cancer about 4 years ago) I'm all too aware that it kills over 12,000 men every year in the UK.

And I'm so pleased you are still with us Chris as are others here I'm sure.

Keep on carrying on please.  I know you dont like kisses but I can't help myself.  So just the one. X

Just for you. LB: 💋

I had no idea Buenchico. Stay with us as long as possible. You are a valued voice of sanity on this site.

Thanks, Tomus42.

It's not often that my name is linked to 'sanity' 😆

Keep taking the medicine Chris .
sorry, should we know Kim marsh or her father ?

Exactly, Anne.  If it was Kym Marsh who had died, then fine - but her father?

keep well chris

I take heart that so many ask ' who she den, and her dad?'

RIP her dad

I think Kim Marsh is or was in one of the soaps but no idea which one.

Swooning here Chris;-)

Kym found 'fame' as a singer in Popstars, resulting in her joining Hearsay.  She played a good part in Corrie but then became one of those irritating 'personalities' that believes their opinions are worth listening to.  She's currently in Waterloo Road

Had a few well publicised relationships and divorces.

I'm slightly curious. Does anyone actually just die these days, or does everyone 'pass'?

Pass

Sorry Sharon, it does seem rather tangential. Someone moderately well knowns, moderately old relative dies of moderately natural causes. I don't really get how that's of any interest to most people

LOL OG.

the only Marsh's I've ever heard of were Rodney (English footballer), Rodney (Ossie cricketer - decd.) & Richard (Labour politician - decd.).

I don't think any of them were Ms. Marsh's father.

Neveracrossword I told my kids that when I die, I either died, popped my clogs, shed this mortal coil, any euphemism connected would be okay. However, if they ever said passed away, or the awful passed, I would come back and haunt them forever.

Thanks, Cashier. I'm not a fan of euphemisms  anyway, but 'passed' is probably the one I detest most.

SharonA, I was going to reply to your OP with, 'Oh, I didn't know he was sitting his driving test'.

I can't really blame Sharon, there has always been an almost desperate need on AB to be the first to announce a celebrity's death, often someone many have never heard of (especially band members from the 60s and 70s!).

On a serious note though, although in this case it was a welcome opportunity for buenchico to raise his personal experience others are not always so positive. Think of those who have this (or any other cancer) and are worried. Who wants to comme on this site for light relief and see such posts and think OMG he's died of what I've got or what a loved one has.

I may not be expressing myself well, I know what I mean.

Yes, Prudie, a discussion, even just a chat, about prostate cancer could have been quite interesting.   And yes, I know ABers often like to be the first to announce a celebrity's death, but the death of a minor celebrity's relative...?
