Prostate cancer.

It's said many die with it rather than because of it.

And skin cancer can be treated if caught early enough.

I have a good cancer, it doesn't affect my lifespan and the only treatment so far is taking tablets and blood tests every three months.

No effect on my health at all

Question Author

OK to clarify further apparently an operation would be needed but refused.

I'm not sure but I know someone who has cancer that isn't curable but treatable, and I expect there is the kind that is non-treatable, or terminal.

Are you saying a person who needs an operation for their cancer but they have refused to have it?

Question Author

yes Barsel apparently its good cancer but needs an operation - which has been refused by the individual

There are far too many cancers to mention that have a good prognosis with a timely operation. Impossible to guess

Is this your MiL?

Question Author

lol barry got it in 1

If she refuses the operation your problems may be over sooner than you expected.

Her body, her life, her choice

Question Author

I know

Or she could be lying

Question Author

well if she is then it will come back to haunt her - as she had a memory assessement today and aside from telling them she had cancer she also told them she was suicidal (again)

so the case worker is apparently going to get her medical file

Could be interesting.

I can't imagine that any cancer could be described as "good"

Question Author

there is defo more to this - she told himself that she has had blood tests and a poo test and from that she has cancer.

I don't think that "good cancer" is a very good description.  Whatever it is it should be investigated further and treated accordingly.  I am speaking from experience

Question Author

Bobbie - she claims the dr told her it was good cancer!

I would have though some sort of scan would be needed before confirming someone had cancer - we are now waiting for the GP to communicate with my BIL to confirm what is happening

A CEA blood test can detect colon cancer. Blood in stool can also be an indication but could also be caused by polyps that can be pre cancerous or cancerous. MIL could be thinking she might need stoma if she does have bowel cancer and would refuse this but not all bowel cancers need a stoma

Question Author

would they not carry out a colonoscpy before telling anyone they have cancer?
