Has anyone had one of these, how long does it take and how did you feel afterwards. I googled it and the side effects look awful,
Thanks.

The side effects of the tablets are indigestion problems. That is why an intravenous drip is recommended in a hospital clinic. Takes 15-20 minutes .

Is it for osteoporosis ?  The drip does not cause as many side effects so I understand

..and No I have never had such. The drip is usually once a year

Question Author

Yes Floko, it's been prescribed for osteoporosis.
Not sure why as I have been on the weekly tablet for almost a year with no bother at all.

Are the tablets helping ?  If so I wonder why a drip has been recommended

By the way, the drip infusion can be long-lasting, even up to 2 years

I have just had my fourth annual infusion, Ferlew. No obvious side effects. The infusion takes about 30/40 minutes depending on the dosage. Take a book to read and go to the loo before sitting down so you don't have to drag the stand into the toilet cubicle.😉

I tried alendronic tablets before I was transferred to the infusion treatment. I got terrible pains in my stomach and felt terrible. I took only two and then went back to the doctors to see what else was available.

Thanks, the NHS site's info on side effects has really put me on edge about this.

Well, I'm fine. You won't know until you try it.

Much better for me than the tablets.

I suspect that it's a bit like chemotherapy when it comes to side effects.  i.e. some people will have really bad experiences but others will get through it quite easily, with no real way to tell in advance which of those two groups a patient might fall into.

So asking about other people's experiences might not tell you a lot really but, for what it's worth, you can read 235 of them here:
