...reduce our carbon footprint?

Bananas and avocados come to mind and a lot of grain comes from the Americas or Ukraine.

Chocolate, coffee, tea, NZ lamb, cocoa, cane sugar

Ooooh I eat Avocados  most days and hate bananas.  I'm  not going up avocados!

Any citrus fruits, rice. Only eat seasonal veg, so getting to the end of the salad and tomato season. I suppose tinned tomatos would come into that list too as they are grown and canned abroad then have to be freighted here

I'm with lottie...avocado =healthy fats. And I'm not giving up my dark chocolate!

I don't eat grains, bananas, tea or sugar. Not a huge amount of red meat....lots of eggs, pork, chicken which are UK grown/produced.

I'd be reluctant to stop drinking tea and coffee and I'd miss oranges and bananas.  Apart from those there's not much from abroad that I'd miss.

I think vegans would struggle to survive on local, seasonal food (or processed imported food) . For all their rants about being vegan being good for the planet thet totally ignore the environmental costs of their food miles

^. Yes, a lot of soy comes from the Americas and lentils from the Middle East.

Pasta, you don't eat anything with sugar in?  No cake, biscuit, pudding, ice cream, custard, sweets, toffee, fudge?

Countrylover - sorry I digress, but a had this image of you going up an avocado and wondered just how you did this. You did give me a laugh on a dreich day.

I should have been more specific πŸ€”. I don't often buy sugar to use...there's a 2 year old box of dark muscovado at the back of my cupboard...and yes there's sugar in my dark chocolate. I try hard to avoid other things containing sugar...but I suppose even a bit cancels out my statement that I don't eat it.

Where's the edit function??? πŸ˜ΆπŸ™„

Sandy  - if you have an outdoor space I bet you could grow most of your veg and salad requirements to keep you going some of the year - and it tastes so much nicer.

I grew enough lettuce, cucumbers, spring onions, peppers  and tomatoes that I have not had to buy any in 4 months.

Potatoes, spinach, cabbage etc a good amount that I have barely bought.  Strawberries I only ate my own this year.

Ha ha Maggie.  I should check before I post!

I haven't bought sugar for years but some still remains in the container but like Pasta, a little dark chocolate after dinner. Very little sweet food.  Neither of us has a sweet tooth.  We don't do desserts or cakes But I admit I quite like dark choc kitkats.  And I love sweet chilli sauce.  I buy biscuits for the gardener who comes about every three months.  Hubby loves his home made bread and adds a teaspoon of sugar.  He also eats granola.  I eat about 10 slices of gluten free bread a week.

We do drink tea and coffee though.  Hubby eats granola which is sweetened.  We don't eat much meat, and never lamb.   I suppose we should stick to British fruit and veg, but I don't.  Hubby used to grow a lot of veg, but not for the last few years.  He's too busy now being cook and house husband and having a pretty useless wife.

Useless, not pretty!

Pasta if I were you I would check that 2 year old box at the back of your cupboard.  You might find more than dark muscovado in it.  πŸ™„

I reckon our sugar might be a bit dodgy.  But sugar is a preservative.  It's  probably  demerara.  Just remembered I add a teaspoon when frying onions for pasta dishes.  We'll I did.  I don't cook any more now.  I have a manservant but im still there go give advice.

Rice, bamboo shoots, most spices

Melon, pineapple, lemons, oranges, kiwi, blueberry
