have had some absolute blinders recently - even to the point of affecting my sight.

Eyes go blurry and swirly - the headache is in my forehead area.

Had an eyesight test 6 weeks ago and got some new glasses but the glasses were broken in on the first few days.

Monitor the situation?

'But the glasses were broken in on the first few days' not quite sure what this means? But was going to suggest going back to the optician

Question Author

sorry I should have explained - the glasses are stronger than my last ones so the opticion advised to 'break them in' wearing them longer and longer

What do you mean by "swirly"?

Question Author

like there was one of those kids toys from the 70s with the moving pictures in front of my eyes

Oh I see (no pun intended) It might still be worth going back to get them checked out and talk about the headaches though

My first thought was migraine. Any blind spots or flashing/zigzag lights?

? Migraine

Pasta that was himselfs suggestion - but i have never had them and I always thought migraines wipe you out - these disapear eventually - I had one this morning - it lasted about 60 minutes after taking some paracetamol

First thought just like pasta, migraine .?

I have similar headaches, and was told that they are Scintillating Scotomas. (May have the spelling wrong)
Self limiting, usually gone within an hour or so. Just a thought.

What time of day and when have you eaten. Cheese and red wine used to give my sister migraines

Question Author

Headache was about 11am so no wine - and omelette for breakfast

The scintillating scotoma is the vision disturbance. Common to ocular or classic migraine.

It typically lasts 20 minutes for me...followed by fuzzy headedness. Sometimes a thumping headache.

Mine started in my 40s...IIRC

Could it be your sinuses?

Have you had a bad cold lately?

I used to get really blinding headaches from my sinuses.

Stress and lack of sleep can bring on migraines.

Look what you have done Pasta,  damn links.

I'd say migraine of some sort.  Electrical disturbance in brain.  Don't necessarily wipe you out.  I used to get them in my teens and they would block out  half my vision.   They were frightening.  I got migraine attacks again when I was pregnant.  I haven't had any for years now.  My Dad had migraine and so did my son in his teens.  They affected the use of his right arm, as well as a headache.  Apparently they very often run in families.

Buy migraleve.  Take yellow and pink together

Oh damn...sorry about that link

Maybe this will help. First time I saw a representation of what if looked like I was shouting "that's me!"

First of all I am gladdened by the abscence of posts and links referring to tumours of the brain...............it rarely is.

Although not typical of migraine, I cannot think of a better diagnosis other than "stress related"........new job etc.

Treat each attack with Paracetamol or Ibuprofen and yes, "monitor the situation"......😉
