Maybe try Buttercup Syrup, or something for children may be gentler. Cant say how effective they may be however. Have you tried rubbing Vicks on your throat

Did you try soluble Aspirin?

I always use Covonia. I can't vouch for the sugar content but it doesn't upset my stomach and it claims to be a herbal product.

Question Author

I didn't Naomi as I haven't been out since the last time we talked about this.

The sore throat has all gone but gone now but I am left with the 'snots', cough and all the yucky stuff that comes from that.

Question Author

Thank you Devon - having googled Covonia I see its sugar free - so will give that a go.

RH, of you or someone else is going out for cough medicine, do get some soluble Aspirin.  It really does help.

Question Author

I am popping out this afternoon as himself is available to drive me so will get some.

Daft question - is it fizzy?

I have really let my first aid dimish over the last year or so - I really need to get everything topped up and sorted for the coming winter

Yes, it's fizzy...in a refreshing way. Not as fizzy as sparkling water.

Question Author

OK bariatrics can't take fizzy but I can stir it out with a silver spoon - not an issue just so I know

Out of curiosity, what does fizzy do that's bad?

The ordinary soluble Aspirin isn't fizzy.  Gargling it is good for sore throats and drinking it really does help colds.  When a friend recommended it I had my doubts but I tried it and it is effective.

Devon got there first - we swear by Covonia, that and Vick on the throat & chest at night.

Hmmm...I always found it to be mildly fizzy. I've not had it for a good while though as I take dispersable paracetamol lately.

Question Author

Thanks will try it.

Due to the gas in a stomach that is 20% the size of a normal stomach anything fizzy is not recommended Pasta

That's what I thought...thanks for answering.

Question Author

No worries pasta - happy to answer any questions re bariatric surgery

Question Author

Naomi,

I got the tablets and gargled - blurgh gross lol but will continue trying

Haaa!  Sorry 'bout that.  Perhaps I should have said.  :o)

Hope it helps though.  If it does it'll be worth it.
