I don’t trust the IAEA.
But I do trust the nuclear scientists who have been saying for months that there is no serious risk of a “nuclear incident” at this plant - even if the Russians managed to blow up bits of it the most dangerous nuclear waste has long since decayed as the reactors were shut down ages ago

Yes, I never quite understood how mines were going to be set off remotely from Russia and nobody would set them off (if they existed) at close range.
Still Vlad. is a maniac as we all know, though I have read that a large proportion on the Russians support him, but could that be they daren't say otherwise?
Could you expand on the comment about nuclear waste please?
Ah it's special nuclear waste. Most store their waste safely away for 250 kiloyears, but this stuff is ok already ;-)
I suppose we're lucky that they had the foresight to use the diet fuel in the first place. Saves all that storage in granite encased in lead nonsense from the full fat stuff.

ichi can speak for himself, but 'decayed' is the wrong choice of word.
Most 'nuclear waste' is of a very low level. Higher grade waste can be encapsulated into some other materials; lead, glass etc. & stored safely - the planet Earth is to some extent radioactive anyway.
By “waste” I meant the isotopes that decay at different rates. The slow decay ones are the dangerous ones.
Because they are radioactive for longer
Previously I predicted a Fukushima style disaster but apparently the rate of poisoning would be low.
The Russians might still blow up the plant but that would be economic vandalism rather than nuclear terrorism and I’m not sure they are indeed capable of doing it
