I bought a Boots own hair dye, Frosted Blonde, last August which my niece was going to do for me, however we ran out of time while she was here.
Yesterday I decided to have a go myself…wow, I’m soooo pleased! My hair was about three quarters white, the back and some of the sides were still my original mousy blonde and I just felt dull and drab, no amount of conditioner made it shine.
Now I’m an icy white, all shiny and new! Wish I’d had a go months ago :)

Lovely so glad you like it, do you have to use purple shampoo to keep it bright?

Yes Helen, I rooted out some I used a few years ago when I had it done professionally (cost me over £50 and as I have very short hair, cut every six weeks, it didn’t last long) and it makes a significant difference, looks slightly yellow or light gold without it, which I’m sure some people would like, it’s not hideous, but I want mine bright white and shiny.
Need to buy some purple conditioner tomorrow too.
Hi Vagus- sorry to but in I was just thinking I might look up your coronation chicken recipe for a snack whilst watching the ceremony:-))
By the way you can buy purple mousse for blonde hair if needed
Question Author
Ooh go for it Margo, we thoroughly enjoyed it on a jacket spud, probably even nicer than a sandwich.
Congratulations on getting what you want, Vagus. Shiny and new is lovely.

P.S. Where is this Coronation Chicken recipe, please?
I have left off having brown and blonde highlights because of fear of hair falling out after Sepsis. I was expecting grey hair but in fact it's growing out with virtually no grey. I don't think I've seen my natural colour for years an it's a totally quite a nice dark blonde. No doubt at some stage I'll get some more blonde streaks. At 76 I'm proud not to be grey! I'm trying to grow my hair a bit so my scruffy layered short hair grows to scruffy longer layered look.

Your hair sounds good Vegas. Just don't go pink!!
I gave up on hair dye about 20 years ago...csnt be bothered now. It's silvery on top...and still dark auburn underneath at the back...
Took this the other night...

Tilly. If you type coronation chicken in the search box it's the first post that comes up
Wow Pasta that's a very curly mop you've got there. When I first saw your photo I thought it was a wig hanging on the bannister rail!!
MissT @22:59...your autocorrect turned Vagus into Vegas...lol...pink hair would be required there!
Or perhaps lime green! I'm no fan of silly coloured hair that does nothing for your skin tone. I like your curls! X
MissT @10:33....you just made me splutter with laughter.
Thanks...I like my curls too. Never been tempted to straighten my hair.
I did at one time think I'd like some purple in my hair, but decided that with my luck I'd be allergic to the dye. So I stay natural.

Pasta, that’s such a lovely head of curls you’ve got, and all your own colour! That’s not a bit like I imagined you’d look (from the back), don’t know what I did imagine though. It’s lovely, lucky you.
Oh indeed no, MissT, I would never do that, I’m not a fan of silly coloured hair either, I don’t think it looks fashionable or smart, just..err..silly. This purple shampoo and conditioner just tones down any yellowness leaving bleached hair silvery white.
Tilly, hope you found the recipe, it’s just one I’ve amalgamated from a couple over the years.
I know about purple Vagus, I've been using it since I was 16 and my mum dyed my hair very blonde for me!

Ok, didn’t want you imagining I was one of the blue/purple rinse brigade ;o)
Ha ha! I now see you as a blonde bombshell
