My godmother had thyroid problems and a huge goitre. The thyroid was removed and she lived comfortably for many years afterwards by taking thyroid-replacement medication.

Maybe is on medication for an over active thyroid .

Certainly not a goitre eithe r active or underactive.
A non active thyroid cyst.
Not affecting her hormone status.
Leave well alone

I have a large lump at the front of my throat and what Sqad said is exactly what the ENT consultants told me.
My lump is a collection of small cysts, which they called nodules.
They have been subjected to biopsy and have been found to be non-malignant.
Blood tests have shown that my thyroid hormone levels are completely normal and are not affected by the lump.
I have been advised to leave it alone, but I go every two years to have it measured and an MRI done.
