I grew up with no bathroom and no hot running water in the summer. Tin bath once a week and a strip wash if the only sink in the house was free.
Unless you are physically active and sweaty, or do a dirty job, you do not need to bath or shower every day.
Showering or bathing too often can harm the skin https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/zrckscw
psycho linguistics ( cognitive sociologists) will gape at this thread. There is almost a disjoint gender ( gelz and boys) divide on the meaning of 'OK'
'OK' for men - is it harmful
OK for women - will people on the bus object
one word with completely different connotation for men and women. 'Clean' is another but is complicated by the observation one can be ritually clean which interferes/complicates the gender divide
Of course it’s ok to shower twice a week, people are too hung up on how other people should behave. You do what you want, drobi.
Personally, I like to shower and wash my hair every day but everyone has their own preference and I would never comment on how often a person showered or washed their hair unless they actually smelled. And I think it would take more/less than showering twice a week for a person to actually smell.
Re barry @ 14.27. Several years ago, a dermatologist friend of mine said that a surprising number of his patients had skin problems due to bathing/showering too often using too hot water and too much soap/shower gel. So emmie's "you must shower every day" is not the golden rule for everyone.
I can't imagine why anyone wouldn't shower every day. So much quicker and fresher than washing ... unless those who don't shower daily don't have a thorough wash either. :o/
"I can't imagine why anyone wouldn't shower every day"
no shower
disabled and unable to access shower
bedbound
dressings that cant get wet
wounds that shouldn't get wet
simply too much effort
don't have time
