Does anyone have this condition? Does it get worse with age and can anything be done about it if it might be problematic? A friend was recently told they have this and is now worrying but has normal eyesight otherwise so doesn't want to see doc or optician.

Thanks for any info!

i would advise going to see the doctor. That is not normal. Pupils should dilate and and contract equally. I would not say it was major, but it needs checking out. As a friend to this person, u should tell them to go to the doc if they are worried

Actually it can be perfectly normal! It has a name but I can't remember what it is. I have it, altho it only happens when I'm tired.

However it can be a symptom of something more serious so its well worth getting it checked out, chances are its nothing to worry about at all!

Good luck!

I've had it almost 30 years, I just spotted it one day, the doctor said it wasn't important, and it's never caused any trouble since. No idea why they don't go back to normal though!

the name is anisocoria

an - not

iso same

coria - pupil (kore is a young man and a pupil is as well)

It is usually normal - go and see your GP is you are worried. David Bowie has hugely different pupils and so did Lord Nelson and that was because...they were obviously blind in one eye. We are clearly not talking about this here. GP if you are worried.
