why do we (men.....and a few women) have facial hair just under the bottom lip then none until your chin?

I think the facial hair paterns in humans is display one sex from another. If you look at some animals ie roosters, having a comb and wattles, but in hens it is absent or almost., also the same can be said for billy goats and nanny goats etc etc
