At the mo I have a shower over the bath and some grab rails (suction) - however I know eventually the height of bath will get harder for me to climb over it.

I don't want a walk in shower just sort of same shape as bath but only a step or two into it. Any suggestions please.

not sure if this is what you are after JJ, but its what i can find using google.
That made me laugh. It doesn't say anything about emptying the bath before you open the door LOL.
jj You can buy baths that have a door that you can open to allow you access to bath but they are not cheap. You may be able to get a grant to have one installed if you are the property owner.
one must use one's common sense, lol
tony, as per my link
You beat me to it emmie lol
The thing that strikes us about baths with opening doors is that you can't open the door to step out until you've emptied the water out. That means you've got to sit there and wait when you've finished getting washed. OK with a shower, I suppose, as the water runs out as you go along.
no worries tony.

thanks for the answers but am not fussy whether it is a bath - just really a good shower unit and I want it done without too much work to my bathroom - like minimum work
I think it's in quite short supply sometimes Em. And I include myself in that;-)
no idea how they work, but this seems to be something to consider.
i converted my bathroom to just a shower with three grab rails.
lol, LB, me too
thinking about changing myself but 2 probs:

1)The drainage in my bathroom is above floor level so the shower base would need to be raised a fair way off the floor to accommodate trap etc. (or are there clever plumbing solutions?)

2)The bath (and so the shower) goes 1/4 way across a window so some form of screen would be needed.
I've just had a wet room fitted JJ and it's fantastic. But it took 9.5 working days to get it done. I already had a gas shower but of course you now have to have an electric one now so that was work I wasn't expecting. The workmen were superb, everything is immaculate.
it cost me a few days of work by professional builders, plumber obviously, and 2k to take out bath and install triton shower unit, with a long bath base and glass panel.
mine isn't a wet room, as was told bathroom too small for that.
jj you will have to have quite a lot of work done e.g. Retiling, new flooring, plumbing changes and a redec. New bath will not be exactly same dimensions as your existing one unless you are very lucky. It would be the same chances as winning the lottery IMO
that was one point, my bathroom is all tiled, except the ceiling, so builder had to find similar tiles to the ones i have, of course he couldn't find anything to match - so ended up with bigger tiles down the base where the bath had been.
jj If you need an electric shower, they use a lot of watts (power) so you may need to upgrade wiring and have it on its own wiring and circuit breaker (rcd)
