Just saw a news report that 300 children aged 6-17 have started trialling the OAZ vaccination. WHo in their right mind would put their 6 year old forward and give permission on their behalf?

It’s a difficult one isn’t it?
Unless it’s tested on this age group, no one will ever know if it works or not, how else can it be tested?
If I had a young child I wouldn’t ‘volunteer’ them.
because you tell the parents that after 14m doses it is safe

Drugs for children are tested in children before they are given to children you know
what you thought they were tested in monkeys and then let rip?

about half of other drugs used in childen including paracetamol havent been licensed for children ( Ryllance evidence to the House of Commons)
I might discuss it with a child 10 years plus and see what they thought but not a younger child just yet.
we all got the old vaccines early - as children of a doctor
it is no big deal - - - I didnt grow a second head or anything

Yes mamy, that’s what me and him have just talked about and decided too.
I know it’s gotta be tested on someone’s kids ....
However there’s no ways I’d want it to be mine.

Every one of those 300 have had their baby jabs and in view of the fear that some children have of Covid after seeing and hearing what it has done to their grannies and grandads I think there would be some that would volunteer anyway because kids seem far more informed and aware these days

Seems that they are more than happy to be taking part

I cant open that link but if they are interviewing children, surely it's not the 6 year olds?
The ‘children’ interviewed, about three or four girls, all looked over 15 and able to give informed consent.
the ones interviewed on the news last evening were 15 and over, so had informed consent..
I would guess then that the younger children will be the offspring of doctors, medics and scientists who know the value of the vaccine and the benefit it will be of to their children because so far in uk we have vaccinated 15 million and I have not heard of a single death as a direct result yet
The polio vaccine was tested on 1.8 million children but I don't think their ages were ever made public. I suppose it's inevitable that children have to be involved with new drugs at some stage.
Realistically, every childhood vaccination has been tested on children at some point. The wording sounds bad, but it's tested on adults first, so there is as much safety as possible. I'm not sure whether I would want my young child (if I had one) to have it yet or not.

I realise, of course, that vaccinations to be given the children need to be tested on children. However, I simply can't imagine asking my 8 year old if she'd like to go and have a jab in a trial
I think it depends on the child and of course only parents will have an idea about how much their child understands about this.

A very individual case by case thing I think.
// I suppose it's inevitable that children have to be involved with new drugs at some stage.//

or else the paedie pharmocopeia ( big book of spells and prescriptions for sick little kiddies and bairns)w ould be empty for chrissakes

and you would never give a sick child any medical treatment

o god AB generates such free thinkers

and as for trials - any child with leukaemia ( a few thousand a year) their entry into a trial is discussed at booking - so that around 90% are involved in a trial ( usually the current UKALL trial)

[ and no and no - - - I know people are going to whine and rebuke me, when the patients parents asks is this gonna do any good doctor,
the doctor says - no we think this one will kill around 50% - which is much worse than last year !
yes OK you can scrap this post if it is Just Too Much]
No Peter, we'll just talk calmly and leave the hysteria to you if that's ok.
PP, it's understandable that parents who have children with leukaemia, might end up willing to take more risks. But vaccines are given to healthy children. You can't compare it.
