The doctor decided that she should have an emergency endoscopy and a colonoscopy and she did get a letter from the hospital stating that she would be seen within the next 18 weeks. Not quite what I would call an emergency appointment. She is still waiting. Glad to say that she has been fine in herself, no pain or discomfort. This morning without any warning she coughed up quite a lot of fresh red blood again. She's taken herself off to the hospital where thay have taken blood from her, she's in a bed with a canula in her arm and hopefully we might get some results soon. Worse bit is we are quite a distance from her so it is worrying.

Was she in bed when she started coughing?
Question Author
No she'd got up, had a shower and got dressed ready to go to the shops. She hasn't got any any sort of cough but just out of the blue coughed up fresh blood. We'll just have to wait and see what the hospital says.
Hope they can find the cause and it is 'something and nothing'

Thanks Barry, so do I.
How much blood?
All the best BD - and hopefully your daughter will be home soon.
Question Author
Don't know ummmm. She just said it was lot more than last time.
I think that they will expedite her endoscopy with this recurrence but I cannot envisage this to have significant outcome.......but I understand your concern.
Question Author
Thanks Andy and Sqad. We're on lockdown in Manchester. She's in Birmingham and lives on her own so it's natural to be concerned but we'll just wait a see what the docs say.
Remember....it probably looks much worse than it is.

Was there any clots?
Yeah, they wrote the letter from the hospital stating 18 week emergency.

They've just sent her down for a chest Xray and as the nurses were changing shifts the new one was told to monitor her lactose levels. Not sure what that means as she very rarely drinks milk but does have a yoghurt every morning. At least something is being done now.
I wonder if she may have misheard?
Bednobs....correct I am sure that she misheard.

Well she's just left the hospital after being there since 9am with nothing to eat or drink in between. All her blood tests were ok - liver and kidney function ok as was everything else. Best advice the doctor could give her was to wait for the "emergency" endoscopy to see what that showed, if anything. He had no idea of when this would take place. When she asked what she should do if she projectile vomited blood again the advice was to go back to the hospital. Couldn't make it up. I've just advised her to get herself some water and make her way home. If it happens again then sod the lockdown I'll be driving down to pick her up and bring her home.
That must be very worrying for you BD. Hope she is better very soon and she/you know what the problem is.
Has she projectile vomited blood? Is she in pain?

If she does projectile vomits blood she needs to phone 999 straight away.
Sorry to hear this about your daughter BD. I would feel exactly the same if it happened to one of mine. Hope they manage to find out the cause. x

Thanks lady janine and Barsel. For ummmm - She is not in any pain and hasn't had any pain at all. She has been well and comfortable since the first episode in May with no symptoms at all. Absolutely fine this am until she suddenly had a urge to be violently sick but all that came out was blood, very little else. All we can do now is wait and see if it happens again and deal with it then.
How much blood? I've had two blood transfusions within a year from vomiting blood. I lost quite a lot though and was in hospital for 2 weeks.
