Just wondering if it’s something I should be doing. I don’t mean armpits. I mean your forearms. I’ve seen ads with women shaving them and wondered if I’m a bit of a freak because I don’t.

Don’t confuse a lack of ‘fashionable’ body-shaving with a lack of personal hygiene.

I’ve known girls who shaved everything, lathered themselves with perfumes, but who did not practise good personal hygiene.
No-one's confused, Allen. :-)
there's a bloke gets on our bus, he's 'high' and even me wearing a mask I can smell him, he lives in a rather large house on a private estate left to him by his mother, curtains are hanging filthy off the windows and the garden is like a jungle, Heaven help the ones beside him, his is detached, if they want to sell,
I've never shaved my arms although they are a bit hairy and much lighter in colour than my hair. I wish I didn't have to shave my arm pits and legs though :o(

As regards to personal hygiene, I'm glad I'm not using public transport at the moment. Ive experienced many eye-watering journeys. Also worked with a few wiffy colleagues as well, and not just stale sweat smells!
As I have gotten older I find my forearms get a bit fluffy so I wax them. Bit sore but lasts quite awhile. I have waxed my legs for years and don’t have hair left there or underarms but my forearms fluff up from time to time.
Hormones or lack of them I guess. Thankfully I haven’t grown a beard. Yet

No...!!! but I do tweezer my beard...my mum never told me about facial hair being a thing in old ladies....if I didn't I could be Santa in department store over xmas with no problem!! Now there's a way of adding to my pension without too much effort!
But again you’re confusing ‘stale sweat’ and lack of washing, which most would agree are disagreeable, with the smell of fresh sweat from a clean, healthy (probably hairy) body, which many mature men and women find hugely attractive.
You do what you want to do. Don't allow ads to brainwash you into doing otherwise. Shave if you want, don't if you don't want.
How can sweat be fresh? Its body waste fluids. The smell of sweat fresh or otherwise makes me gag. Sorry but give me a man drenched in an expensive cologne otherwise go take a shower before you come anywhere near me ;-)

Oh god no, AuntPolly. Artificial smells make me gag.
Apc, I remember Bruce Willis grumbling that when you (he probably meant men) reach 50 God starts taking the hair from your head and putting it in your ears.

There are some men who just smell lovely. It would feel a bit creepy if I asked what they’re using, though.
Fresh sweat (which we produce all the time) has no odour, the smell is produced as bacteria breaks down the composition of the sweat largely from the apocrine sweat glands which are mainly in the armpit.
Stale sweat no, fresh sweat from labour is very attractive.

Jno, hairy ears and noses: Poor men, but just get rid of it, guys.
I’m thinking of the film director with white hair who had profusions of it sprouting from his nose and ears.
No, I'm not hairy!
once when my kindly brother told me years ago that i had hairy arms, it was a nightmare, and i haven't done it since. as the years have gone on its all but disappeared,
I hate all manner of body odours, fresh or otherwise. All make me gag. I'm not keen on strong perfume/aftershave either. They give me a headache. I have to use antiperspirant sticks rather than sprays.
// Oh god no, AuntPolly. Artificial smells make me gag.//

The most expensive aftershaves/colognes are made with all natural ingredients.

Ok, AuntPolly. I guess you know men with deeper pockets than I do ;)
