Theresa May - The Pressure

There isn't really a category I could think to put this - I don't want to discuss her politics at all but on a human front I just don't know how any one can cope with this much pressure, how is she sleeping, how is she getting up every morning to go somewhere that most don't want her to be. If this were me in the workplace I'd have gone off with stress long ago and quite frankly maybe consider jumping off a cliff. Anyone else feel sympathy or at least wonder how she's coping?

There's a little part of my, not normally conspiracy theory prone, brain that is beginning to think that there is no pressure because this state of chaos is a planned act of sabotage. She knows that she is going to get a (political) kicking but is prepared for it in order to wreck Brexit - hence no pressure...
I agree, politics aside I don’t see how she is managing to keep going - the stress must be unbearable.
I do... I have no idea how someone can cope with such a public and high pressure job like that... I have to admire her staying power.
I agree, it takes a very * special * type of person who is unable to assess the situation around her. Her claim to fame will be the worst PM in history?. Her actions are imo not that of a stable ( normal ) person .
// Anyone else feel sympathy or at least wonder how she's coping? //

Yes. She's brought it all on herself though, so there's only so much sympathy you can have.

I've thought that at times myself.
I agree...an amazing woman, with complete dedication to the task ahead and she will always have my undying respect.
In my line of work, if someone p 1ssed me off first thing in the morning, it affected me for the whole of the day, but luckily it didn't happen too often.
I also felt sorry for Blair over the Iraq war, get it right and you are a hero, get it wrong and you are food for the sharks.
Decisions have to be made in life....some are good....some are not so good and occasionally one is downright bad.
If you aspire to head office, best you are the type relatively unfazed by stress. One of the qualities that is very useful in the job.
Yes, some. I was in particular horrified by the front pages on yesterday's papers, which were stills from a speech she gave, taken at the worst moments that made her look like a grotesque freak. Hard not to feel some level of sympathy at that.

Absolutely OG but what she is going through is light years away from the normal expected pressure of being high up the tree. I wonder if she goes home and cries to her husband.
I agree sqad. Politics is a tough business and can be lonely too being PM faced with tough decisions while everyone is sniping at you from the safety and often anonymity of wherever.
I think tho being PM you don’t have to be a dictator to get a buzz from being in power and if you believe strongly enough you are right then that probably keeps you going
"it takes a very * special * type of person who is unable to assess the situation"

It's just sad that our present PM doesn't have that quality and tries to cope by repeating the same flawed behaviour again and again. This deal is no good and it has been rejected; I'll tweak something irrelevant or claim to have done so, and retry. (Repeat ad nauseam.)
I've often wondered how she keeps going, even time-wise. The pressure to be here, there and everywhere is relentless.
"Anyone else feel sympathy or at least wonder how she's coping?"
No, not from me.

Not in the slightest.
The only one with any dignity in this mess. Judge her on whether her successor makes a better job of it.

True, which is why I said her actions don't seem those of a stable person. She should have gone after her deal was rejected for the second time. That would have been a dignified failure.

To keep ploughing on to try the same thing a 3rd, and then 4th time just looks like madness.

Why would any sane person want the job? Too many backstabbers and the media following you everywhere.
On a human level I do feel for her, both the mental and physical pressure must be taking it's toll.
Exactly what I was going to say, mamya. I am no supporter of May’s party or politics (except that she really doesn’t want Brexit), but I do have sympathy for her with the enormous strain she is under.
