The side of my jaw, where thejoint is, makes grisly noises when I open and close it. What have I done? Is it serious?

mine does that when im overtired for some reason

Mine does it sometimes too. My dentist told me its a kind of misalignment of the jaw. If its severe it can cause major problems but generally it comes and goes and doesn't cause any issues other than not being very nice to listen to!

Unless it carries on for weeks on end I'd try and forget about it.

Hi pimlico, have a read here for possible causes of jaw noises.

I have the same problem pimlico.

My dentist said that it is wear & tear on the jaw joint. He also said that grinding my teeth in my sleep didn't help either, so sent me to the hospital to have a small gum shield made & I must say it has helped.

My jaw has clicked and sometimes stuck for all my adult life.I think it starts as a slight misalignment then through time its just plain wear and tear.I also was referred to hospital and was given exercise to do.Needless to say I didnt - just wanted to make sure it was OK.
