Having passed out last Wednesday night I went to my GP on Tuesday for a check up. I appear to have quite low blood pressure.

Apart from drinking loads of water which I usually do anyway is there anything else I need to do. I've looked online but would like ABers recommendations as well.

Cheers

for "appealing"...read appalling.
sqad, this is probably a daft question but when you say low blood pressure is a symptom, a symptom of what?
naomi...QUITE.......and that is the question.
It is a symptom of a medical disorder or situation that i outlined in my first post and I don't want to go over it all again.
I have just taken my BP. Reading: 157/151. Retook it and 106/80. These home electronic kits are so unreliable. Why can't doctors use the old-fashioned sphygmamometer any more?
LOL...you mean the one in a wooden box.
sqad, I read that. I just wondered if there was something more specific .... sorry I asked.
naomi...don't apologise.
Since I thought it appropriate, I just did.
That's the one. My GP has one but she has to hide it when elf'n safety come knocking, as there should be no mercury in the surgery, even though it's in a sealed tube.
To be honest Jack, the more modern ones should be accurate......
The ones designed for home use are not calibrated, hence the wildly differing readings. How can I go from 157/151 to 106/80 in 30 seconds?
Something wrong somewhere Jack.
I would always take the better reading ( the one that makes me feel better;-))
I agree, I've seen myself take it 10 times before I am happy with the reading. It's never the same from one minute to the next.
I'd say your monitor is rubbish Jack :-(
For once I agree with you, Anne.
For once,!! awe come on I thought we were best pals. :-)
The old fashioned ones have advantages though. Without an arterial line for real time pressure, they are more accurate at lower readings. We sometimes switched to them on itu if we were not sure. You cant get the paradox from an electronic one, and if you have a flat battery and a power failure they still work.

Well, I feel a lot better now and the nausea, dizziness and other things I was also experiencing has stopped.

Thanks all x
Well done tigger.......go easy on this water drinking lark and as i have said...."monitor the situation."
Well done tigger, so the advice of increasing your fluids via gp has worked :-)
