Erm do you not have any glucose gel? I do and you should too- bread and Jam will do, but 5 isn't incredibly low so you're probably just feeling weird because you are lower than you normally are- that being said the meters can be out a couple of points, so yes eat a jam sarnie, then get yourself some glucose gel.
don't you have a shop anywhere nearby that stocks liquorice allsorts?
^^^^ I agree.
A cup of tea with plenty of sugar (at least 6 teaspoonfuls) should do the trick. I used to do this with my mother when I sensed she was going hypo.
with Kvali.
When you are feeling better - go out and get yourself something like jelly babies and on your way back home - call in at your Mum's and get your keys back!!

The fastest acting things are haribo and coca cola. You should really carry Glucotabs at all times.

Chocolate isn't fast acting and neither is bread and jam, but they're better than nothing.

Im feeling a lot better I have had 2 slices of brown bread with butter and raspberry jam and just checked levels they are up to 8.9 a lot better reading. I will go out and get glucose tablets and carry them around at all times. I am on 1 jardiance 10mg tablets in the morning and 2 metformin 1000mg Slow Release a day for my diabetes.
I would have thought that this is the perfect time to demand your keys back and to put an end to your mothers interference.....by taking your sweets she could have made you very ill. Why would she do that because she must understand the implications of such actions...?
Don't let your mother know, especially if you're going out.
I also agree with MallyJ. To remove your 'lifeline' is an act of extreme recklessness. In the worst case scenario she would be looking at a charge of manslaughter.
Funny old thing the Type 2. I'm told to aim for about 5 and stay below 10.
Seems to depend on your doctor as to what's 'good'.

she says she did it because as a type 2 diabetic I shouldnt be eating liquirice allsorts which is probably right but it should be my choice. I didnt know I was going to have a hypo this afternoon but I have to sort this problem out long term with her interference
4-7 is optimal for all diabetics, however some people seem to think it's okay to habitually run high and particularly types 2's never really get this addressed well for some reason.
Gordie get your key back this ought to be the last straw, you can't have this.
