Today I have intermittent fluttering in my right ear every 30 secs or so. Google seems to say it's tinnitus which I do have but it feels more like it's a pressure thing- I don't have a cold though. What might it be and how can I get rid of it?!

it could be due to many reasons, but the advice given my spath above should be tried as a first port of call.
It isn't tinnitus and it is no big deal.
I can't remember if you have had your BP taken recently, which could be a cause of your symptoms.
There are other but extremely uncommon causes............
Give it a couple of days and if there is no improvement, get back to us.

It went away but is now back. When I "click" my ears by altering the pressure /raising my soft palate it sounds very squidgy. It does feel like wax could be the problem. Either that or a trapped moth arghhh! I'm away working all next week so no chance of getting to the docs. Is there anything I can do to stop it?!
Sqad, I have tinnitus and when I hear sounds of a certain frequency and my head is at a certain angle to the sound (usually low rumbles) I get a fluttering / popping sensation in my inner ear. Is this just an associated effect of tinnitus?

Zac....I assume that your tinnitus is in both ears and if not, then you have seen an ENT bod for investigation.
Yes....the fluttering is a manifestation of your tinnitus caused almost certainly by abnormalities in blood flow in your carotid or vertebral artery. Not a lot can be done about it, as it represents a short period of turbulent blood flow mainly in the artery to the neck (vertebral artery)

NOW...if you problem affects just one ear...then you need to se an ENT surgeon.
Scarlett......as a "blunderbuss" treatment for your problem, without diagnosis and considering your circumstances......try hydrogen peroxide drops in the ears (Otex) and hope that it will certainly eliminate wax, if that be the problem.
I've used Otex. It's like putting sherbet fizz in your ear! :-)
Thanks squad. I have to dog whistles in both ears so no need for any of your colleagues to go poking about LOL. ;-)
LOL....O.K ^^^^
Just a technical question, but, how does tinnitus affect blood flow?
You have it the wrong way round Zac..........blood flow turbulence can be a cause of tinnitus or momentarily change the character of the tinnitus.
Ah ok. Thanks again Mr Sqad. I won’t ask you about the big sty I’ve woken up with this morning. Going to put a hot compress on it. Haven’t had one since I was about 10!
LOL...when I was a kid, I had styes, but the magic treatment was Golden Eye ointment......;-) not sure if it still exists.
I have tinnitus and get this also and yeah I usually got to town on the Otex and the ear popping and it ( usually) abates :)
