What tests and investigations has he had done thus far?

Is he stressed, anxious or troubled or depressed in any way? Any accompanying symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, stomach cramps?

His GP would start out by requesting a stool sample. In the meantime it wouldn't do any harm to get as many probiotics down him as possible.

Only a qualified medic like Sqad can answer that. Amateur comments may well do more harm than good.

JD, even Sqad with all his knowledge and experience isn't going to be able to make a formal diagnosis in a case like this as it could be due to any number of causes.

However, other factors and symptoms can be taken into consideration in order to give a better picture of the problem.

I suffered with something similar which went on for months and was inextricably linked to my mood.

Just as an aside, Immodium is overpriced, you pay for the name. The generic name is Loperamide which is much cheaper from your local chemist.

tambo....I can understand your concern, but I feel that we are not getting the complete story from your son.

"Skin and bone from a a stomach ulcer" doesn't sit right with me.
