Walk on by
same as hopkirk

I wouldn't.
I'd talk to them .
Do they appear distressed?

Are they wearing wellingtons?
I'd say hi and ask how their day was going try to engage them in conversation and ask them if they needed any help then judge anything else by their response.
I'd refer him to the Editors Helpline via the 'Contact Us' button at the foot of the page.
I'd ask if they needed any help... have done so before and it transpired the person had suffered a mini stroke !!

We can all be in that position!!
A stranger and alone? Distressed and in trouble or in danger? I would certainly ask if they needed anything and take it from there. Mildly confused, doing a “Now what did I come in here for?” I would smile sympathetically and maybe make a friendly comment.
my chap looked distressed, had his hand to his head and was pacing back and forth in ASDA... his speech was slurred and he had trouble in understanding what was being said to him..sat him down called for first aid help who then called ambulance..
You're a good person Murray.
he clearly was troubled Conne...
I know Murray - but lots of people would have walked on by.

From what I've seen from previous answers I'm sure this meets the point.
I had a similar situation in a tiny local shopping precinct a week or so ago. A man was seemingly collapsed against a wall just along a side street. As it was outside a shop, I got a local man who was in there to have a look at him. He was quite inebriated I'd say, and not terribly coherent. It was a bitterly cold day, and collapsed on the street was not the place for him. I didn't have my phone, so the other gentleman called an ambulance for him.
As an older lady, yes I'll stop...but I'll also get assistance from others.
Ask tonyav's wife:-)
