Does anyone know what year dyslexia became recognised within british schools, or atleast what decade, i was under the asumption that it was around the 80's but have been trying to find a website to confirm this (2 hours o surfing and yet to find a useful site), does anyone know of a site that would confirm when schools begin to recognise it?

It Will depend on the region, I was in the NE and it wasn't recognised as dyslexia until after I left (1991), but was labled as specific learning difficulty.
