i dont think you will be able to curl such long hair im afraid. even if you were ble to acheive it, it would fall out very quickly. Only way round this would be to have your hair quite heavily layered. then you could turn the ends up with the straighteners.

Hi Boobs :)

Right, take a section of hair and clap the end in the straightners then roll the straightners along the rest of the length, the heat on the outside of the straightners is sufficuent to do this, but, given the length of your hair, I suspect that there will be too much hair wrapped around the GHD's for this technique to be of much use so the other method of doing this is wrap the sectioned hair around one side of the GHD and then clamp it shut, this works just as well but I find that the curl using the latter method isn't as soft as the former.

Hope this helps, I'd be interested to hear of anyone elses methods too :)

If you go to the GHD site, you can order a free DVD which shows you how to do this.

I think it looks awful on the girl though, its straight until the last 3 inches which are ringletted!

thanks everyone phae, i had my hair layered before and hated it with a passion! oh well i can but try, i have some pretty good curl hold stuff, i have curlers but i cant fit all my hair in them so i want to try my ghds! thanks chazza i will check the website! Daks when i have tried it i will tell you how i got on in cb!

right, you've got me at it now. I'v got real long hair too, so im gonna give this curling a try. if i have any success.... i'l be back!

How you getting on phae??
Question Author
yes phae you can be my guinae pig lol
A friend taught me how to do it... she learnt of the GHD website or book or something... hard to explain but you start at your scalp & then kinda twist the straightners so the length of the hair is wrapped round them... oh dear... that didn't make much sense did it?? I'll have to go do it & see if I can explain better!!...

OK. Im now an expert! After scalding myself several times just 4 you boobesque (lol), I can only say ITS BLOODY HARD, but possible! The problem is getting the curl rather than straight kinks. If you get a straight kink, its exceptionally hard to iron it out. I find that you need to curl the hair around the straighteners in a very 'liquid motion'. Any static holding (like you would with curling tongs) gives you the kink look. In short, this takes quite a lots of practice to get it just right.

I wish I could show you as I just find it hard to explain, but at least I can retract my first answer saying its not possible. And it does seem to hold. I found it hard getting the curl to go from ends to roots. But i was very successful in curling from about halfway down.

So, get the ghd's out, grab a section about 1-2 inches wide. clamp (softly) about half way, and 'twist' the hair whilst gliding down. (does this make sense)

Im watching tv tonite with half straight, half curly and a bit kinky hair by the way!!!!

Hi, chazza u said that u can order a free cd from the ghd website which shows u how to curl your hair, i went to the website and could'nt find it? Could you please send me the link to it or something , or anyone else who knows how to get to it?

Thanks

I have just this morning found a way of doing it. My friend's hairdresser did it for her at the weekend and she tried to describe to me. So with trial and error I have finally got there. The best way i can describe it is like a paid of scissors slicing down ribbon to make a curl!!

Start from the root of the hair, clamp your hair into the ghds, twist at an upwards angle and pull tightly down, releasing the hair at this angle!! Sounds confusing I know but just think of the scissor/ribbon trick!! Trust me it works (with a little practice)!!!

Hey guys i found this and i thgought it may come in useful

Using your ghd straighteners to turn straight hair wavy

Start at the side of the head by taking a fine section of hair (4 cm approximately) and spray a light mist of ghd Iron Oil onto the section and comb through. Place a ghd waver at the root of the section and loop the hair around it moving from root to end in a figure of eight motion. Use both hands until all the hair is securely wrapped around the waver. Hold the waver in-between your index finger and thumb and, starting at the root, carefully place the ghd styling iron along the waver holding for 3 to 5 seconds each time before gently unwinding. Repeat this process with each new section of hair but on the top sections place the waver about 4 centimetres from the root to avoid creating too much volume.

Using your ghd straighteners to turn straight hair curly

Starting at the crown, take a small section of hair and spray it with a light mist of ghd Iron Oil. Now wind this section around your finger to the ends of the hair. Use the thumb and index finger of your other hand to hold the section in place. As you ease out your finger feed the section of hair into the irons and hold for 5 to 10 seconds to create glossy, spiral curls. Repeat this process with other small sections of hair. For a longer lasting curl secure each section with a hairpin. Once each section is secured take out the pins and release the curl.

I just found this for any of you who are still struggling! I've tried a couple of ways to do it and it still doesn't really work all that well, but you can give this a go:

Going to work now but will try when I get home!
