I would never go for one with a bag again!

Go Dyson
G tech
Agree with Hopkirk, with the dog and cat hairs I have Dyson and would never have anything else after I have tried others.

Don't have any animals. Shall look at Danny's suggestion.

Previously had this one which lasted 20 years, so went with the same Company

I have a Hetty and it's perfectly adequate for cat hairs.

If I got a new one I'd go for the G Tech...

A Miele Cat and Dog, it's a cylinder with bags and all the tools, it really cleans and sucks well. You don't have to have a cat or dog either :-)
The Gtech can be a faff to empty if you've got sheddy pets...it picks up *everything*... But brilliant, and weighs nothing.

I am unaware that G Tech make Cylinder models. Also, its Vacuum Cleaners are cordless, which I dislike. If G Tech Vacuums are anything like its Hedge trimmers, I speak from experience and say 'Rubbish'. As a starter, the battery on my Hedge Trimmer take 15 hrs to fully load from 'run-down' and if the battery is Not used within a few days it is then virtually fully discharged.

Get a corded item which are far more reliable and, in most instances, more powerful than battery operated ones.

We have Dyson (two corded uprights and a cordless) and wouldn't have anything else.....but, if you really want a bagged cylinder model, the only ones worth having are Miele and Bosch (latest Which? tests)...anything else is "mediocre" at best (Which? again).
Don't forget that the (genuine)replacement bags for both are expensive.

Thanks for your input, everyone I've bought the Miele Compact C2 at £139.
