Apologies as I posted this twice yesterday without a single response / comment - maybe I missed the more vocal element.

I have to ask myself where is the United Nations response to the current atrocities. They should be in the lead for formulating a united response and drawing all the countries together to consign Isil, Boko Haram et al to the darkest parts of history. They havent even called on Assad or Erdogan for their abuses of common law. However the UN is funded its not fit for purpose.

Hi CAC,

I wholeheartedly agree. But then, we don't want the UN doing military stuff do we?
Ed spoils the conspicuous silence of this thread.
The United Nations? Are they still around? It must be ages since they wagged a finger in public at some poor little country who wasn't doing anybody any real harm.

They dont need to do military stuff they just need to get all the necessary players to agree and the rest will join in. Syria and Turkey should be excluded until they join the real world.
I think you would have got a lot more answers if you'd posted about this in News. They are a very vocal bunch. You probably didn't get so many answers here because it's not light-hearted enough.
