The more I see of at that haircut, the more I think how stupid it makes her look. Did her mother really think that it was OK to send her daughter to school looking like that ?

She looks daft, the mother should have said no, not while you are at school.
why discuss it again?
There's a 'failing school' here in Belfast has brought in a new headmaster to try and get it back on its feet. The parents are complaining that it's too strict now.

http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/news/northern-ireland/parents-revolt-as-headmaster-brings-in-new-strict-policy-on-uniforms-and-hairstyles-and-claim-school-is-being-turned-into-an-army-camp-31503929.html
These stories always crop up after the summer holidays, when people have had a while away from school, and got a little bit too individual.

The same situation as always - child contarvevnes uniform policy - school enforces uniform policy - parent sides with child, conveniently swerving the issue away from uniform policy and into infringement (sorry!) or personal freedom.

I don't think that siding with your child against an institution they require for education is a good idea.

My life motto is, never upset someone whose co-operation you need.
don't start obsessing over young people's appearance, mikey, no good will come of it.
Agree with Woofy...and there is no mention of the mother.

Leaving aside the obvious error in thinking that you can circumnavigate the school rules, what on earth possessed the girl to have such a bizarre haircut in the first place ? It looks ludicrous !
I've just commented on one of my Grandsons first day at high school photos,he looks so smart and proud as anything.

I commented on this pair the other day , that still stands.
she didn't do it to attract old men, mikey.

LOL Danny...well deserved BA !

Surely you remember the golden rules of adolescence?

If you can dress, speak, behave and listen to music that simultaneously binds you to your peer group, and seriously winds up the boring old folks that occupy the same space as you - that is a real result.

It appears that the second edict has been achieved as far as you are concerned! LOL!

Well, it doesn't seem to be winding up her daft mother AH !

There is another important point here, and its covered in the last few seconds of the BBC Link.

The Headmaster said that "he didn't think the recent media interest was in any way in the interest of the child"

Perhaps the mother shouldn't be parading her daughter in front of the media in this way ? What kind of mother would allow her daughter to make a laughing stock of herself, and then willingly encourage the media to profit from it.
Both of my daughters were sent home from school regarding hair style/colour,one was wrong on the school's part and we sorted it.

The other-my eldest ,sent home 3 times and the school were correct each time.
Mikey - I bet she is revelling in all the publicity she is getting and hoping to make a bit of money out of it.

I expect they will be on the Jeremy Kyle show soon...they look like ideal material to me.
I hope you don't mean mamya's daughters?

I love the amount of information you can glean from just looking at someone, mikey.

The kind of mother who lives in the modern world - with social media and Jeremy Kyle.
Oooh if there's money in it,why not.
Question Author
What more information do we need ?

She has clearly transgressed against the school's rules, and common sense should have told the mother that. She is the one to blame here, not the immature child. And there is no room for any doubt about the mother's part in parading her daughter in front of the media.
