On Monday morning I tried to get Doctors appointment for what I will describe as a minor irritation, Friday, earliest was the reply.
Later in day I was in Canterbury so I popped into Minor Injuries, there was a queue, much to my surprise I was sent straight through to the exam area.
It gets worse, I was admitted within an hour of getting there, had an Operation (GA, the works,) early on Tuesday, then discharged yesterday afternoon into the care of the District Nurses, (who for the record will not be setting foot in my house).
I think I'm grateful, once I can get comfortable again I sure I will be, spent last night sitting upright on settee with my feet up on a box, lying flat did not agree with me, but I'll try again tonight.
Bottom line is, I had no idea there was a problem, I really was very well looked after and the current discomfort is hopefully only temporary so I will deal with it.
It can only get better!

Sorry to hear that Balders. You have had a rough few weeks with sleepless nights recently. What was wrong if you don't mind me asking? The old 1982 aggravation? Was there a problem with the District Nurse? I married one,as I thought you had,so get private home care when I am in the midden.
I thought you had been "off air" for a while and now all explained.
Wishing you a speedy recovery.
Did you ever come across a chap called Trog Tregonning in the Regiment. I don't know what Commando he served with. He was a PTI at Ashford and specialised in the Aerial assault course when I was a cadet there in late 60s. He was excellent at Floor Gymnastics I recall.
Apparently he was recalled from the police to the Falklands to instruct on "quick cuffing" prisoners as they surrendered.Heard some amusing anecdotes from an old colleague recently of Trog's exploits on the pierhead in Port Stanley. :-)
My goodness baldric sorry to hear about that,I am not sure I agree with the heading though "fun"obviously detected and caught something quickly so I suppose one should be grateful, hope you find a comfy position soon, take care and speedy recovery.
Hi retro it must be nice to have a live in nurse, but I get you get bullied sometimes as regards what is good for you!

Tell me about it. I was waking up one morning about 3 weeks ago and heard Mrs retro on the phone at about 0800hrs. It was her day off. When I came down and asked who she was talking to she had announced that she had made a Drs appointment for me at 1000hrs and literally frogmarched me into the surgery where I got a roasting from the doctor for leaving the problem too long. Saves a lot of time when I have had to have post op staples removed from my abdomen (twice). Just lie in bed and think of England :-)
I have to have regular check up colonoscopys and she was not happy that I elected to have them done in my local hospital and not in the colonoscopy dept she nurses in with her friends. I ask you. I meet these nurses socially sometimes!!
Lol I am sure you are in safe hands(so to speak)and a little bit of embarrassment now and then is not big thing to a man of your standing surely.

Hi Retro, and vakayu.
Yeh '82 covers it.
Don't recall that name atm, but tbh remembering my own name is causing problems, those painkillers they dished out are strong, causing everything to go a bit 'fuzzy' which is good (I think)!
Question Author

Sorry missed a bit, No not a D/Nurse but was a NHS Sister for 30+ years and now a NHS Professional, to say anymore would identify us. Homecare is good but does have a 'Sister Says' element to it!
Stuff the painkillers . A few "Pinkers" will have the same effect and not addictive. Even my private nurse joins me in that treatment. :-)
Just one more comment before I leave you gents in peace to chat, you should be used to dishing out and taking orders both of you, sometimes not so nice on the receiving end eh!Take care both.

Not by b.....dy women though :-) xxx

What I do recall atm is it can be 'interesting' when the old Sisters Uniform is involved, but just not for the moment thanks!
Too much information but YES. Happy memories. Mrs retro now wears "scrubs" and rubber gloves. :0(
