My husband picked up his prescription yesterday and finds he has been prescribed a tablet he hasn't taken for many months. He hadn't requested them?

He takes Flrosemide 40mg for the swelling in his legs..[they still swell while taking them]

He used to also take Alfuzosin XL 10mg at night...he thinks this was to ease the amount of times he needs to use the loo as night....

They didn't seem to work as he was still getting up as many as 4-5 times a night. His then GP said ok leave them off....While not taking them he is still getting up that many times.

He [at 83] worried that he was taking tablets to stop him peeing at night, then another to make him pee in the daytime wasn't right..

Does anyone know if these two medicines are usually taken together, please.

The Pharmacy is closed now so can't call them.

OMG!!......then AB will fill in until the pharmacy opens.

Yes....he can take both tablets at the same time, as their actions are different and given for different reasons.
they can also access your husbands medical records and look see why they have been prescribed
Dial NHS 24...............
supersqad to the rescue ! xx ..
I personally wouldn't waste time phoning 111. There must be a pharmacy open near you that you can call. If worried just don't take the tablet he has not been taking until Monday. Though I don't think the tablet stops him peeing.

Thanks Squad.

I asked here to try and pacify him. When he doesn't understand something he goes on and on til I am ready to scream.

The pharmacy's around here close for prescription medicine at 1 pm.

Thanks again

Cupotee, there must be a duty pharmacist, round here we have Tesco with a pharmacist every day - if you can't get there, you can always phone them for advice.
I don't see what the pharmacist can add to my post, but boxtops may disagree.
Personally I'd check with the surgery why they are on the prescription if they haven't been asked for and he wasn't told he was restarting them. That's just based on my experience that surgeries, doctors (especially locums) when using computers make mistakes on repeat prescriptions.
