Are pub quizzes no longer fair? I hadn't been to one for ages, but went last night and was very disappointed, too many people using iphones under the tables, so what's the point of them now.
I refuse to participate in such quizzes ever since I was told that the quizmaster's decision is final, even when he is patently wrong. These events are set by amateurs and run by amateurs.
I won't be doing the quiz at this pub again, it's a fix, just heard from my neighbour on the phone 2 minutes ago that the quiz masters mother wins more than anyone else.
I just can't see the point of all the cheating it will end up with no one entering the quiz and surely the landlord has the reputation of his pub in mind.
The only time I've 'cheated' on a quiz is during the break and phoned my niece to ask a question about a Disney character but that was for the picture round and she got it wrong
So far as I'm aware, there's no cheating goes on at our quiz. On occasion we've looked up the answers after handing our sheet in but before the answers are announced, but that's more to stop our stressing about answers we couldn't get, or checking if it's worth staying (final round before leaving is the jackpot round, need 5/5 to have a chance, so checking an answer is useful if you need to get away quickly).
