My right wisdom tooth is OK, but with my left one half of it is still embedded in some gum, from time to time it's swell's up and although not that painful quite irratating! So doe's anyone suggest I just go to the dentist and pull the sucker out?

dave, I had similar problems a few years ago & wanted to leave alone as they weren't a major issue pain-wise to me. I mentioned to dentist, he x-rayed & was concerned about infection, which is quite common & can spread to healthy teeth resulting in their tooth loss, so wisdoms were removed.

I would definitely go to seek advice before the swelling possibly turns into an infection.

Yeh you need this taking out if not it will become infected

Here in the US having your wisdom teeth removed has become quite common...most dentists will recommend that we have it done (I already have) around age 18 when the teeth first begin to hit the surface of the gums and cause problems such as; crowding, pushing other teeth, pain, etc...

I would say that you should just see your dentist and ask him if he recommends the surgery for you. I know that they can be pretty painful and irritating in left unattended to....good luck

Had same problem several years ago. Terrified of going to dentist. Went after some time. Had it cut out to avoid further infection. Gum was stitched up after and didn't feel a thing. Waiting for the local to wear off. After a few hours pocked the socket with tongue, still didn't feel a thing. Wonderful these modern locals. This cured my fear of the dentist. No regrets having it done.
