My brother and his wife came to visit today, and whilst they where here, I started having palpitations, little flutters in my chest, they did make me feel quite light headed, but just for seconds. I told my brother and my sister-in-law that I was having them. They said not to worry as it was just the heart pumping the blood around quicker, and it was a good thing. I have had them quite frequently of late, I feel fine healthwise. But I do have a family history of heart attacks/cardiac arrest. Thanks in advance.

Lou,were you stressed by their visit? Sometimes little flutters like this are kinda like mini panic attacks.Or mabe you are generally feeling anxious at the minute?Don't be afraid to check with your doctor if you're really worried, but don't automatically think the worst!

Hi Linda, no I wasn't stressed by their visit. But just lately I do get these palpitations, I've been getting a bit panicky when I get them, but try to calm myself down. I think because of my family history it makes me think that I'm going to have a heart attack at any minute. I know I'm probably being stupid, but it's quite scary when it happens.

Thanks Linda.......my LFC fan...........oh and did you read my other thread.......big up to your nephew.....money well spent.......it was the one about the Lighthouse Family. XX

Sorry Linda, not your nephew....your cousin.
Through the intricate reciprocal relationships that represent social phenonoma, I'd imagine that aside from these phenomena sharing such a close connection with physical stimuli (via ones external environment) that what a person does matters.

So much of our lives depend on the environment that each of us get situated in. We can only control it 17%.
I too had Palpations and I went to my Docs. He checked me over on a ECG told me that my heart was OK on my way out the Nurse ask if I drank coffee I told her that I did and then asked if it was decaf She told me to only drink decaf I have from then on and I have never had any Palpations since that was over a year ago (Dont forget there is caffeine in tea too)
I hope this helps you

I would go and see the doc. My dad had a problem like this and he needed to take more fluid.

By the way decaf does contain caffine, just less of it and tea contians a differnt form a caffine. Some people are more succeptable to one than the other.

Had this myself a few years ago.Doctor checked heart and BP etc. and said it was nothing to worry about.Time of life the change etc. She did advise to cut down on tea and coffee. A few months later it stopped and I have never had palpitations since.Do go to your doctor who will put your mind to rest and check you over.Good luck.
I have noticed it when I need to drink  (not alchohol) or haven't eaten for a while,  so try drinking more water or having a small snack.  Also once you have noticed them they do tend to turn up more frequently, so there could be an element of stress.

Thanks all, I do drink quite a lot of tea, I'll try cutting back on that.
