If you get an upset tummy on holiday it is useful to have immodium for the trip home. Is there the equivalent for 'spending a penny'? I have a trip coming up and access to the loo could be infrequent.

I think you will just have to hope there is a loo available when you need one, or squat in a bush. As far as I am aware there is no drug available to prevent you peeing, not peeing frequently enough can be quite dangerous, your bladder can only hold so much!
I asked at my local pharmacy for such a thing when my son was doing his exams and was worried about needing to go. The pharmacist said no. However, I think cricket wicket-keepers use anti-diuretics, but don't know where you might get one if not from a pharmacy. Might be worth asking anyway.

Thanks both.
lynbrown, I use Immodium if I get "The Runs" so do my family. As for not being able to access a loo I bought a Porta Jane a few years back..don't laugh. Have a google:-)
try adjusting your intake according to whether you're going to be near a loo or not. If you're somewhere hot a lot of the fluid will be sweated out and you may not need to go. Don't have too little, though, or your kidneys will get cross.
I've just googled kat-kin's Porta Jane suggestion, and can't imagine putting up a bright pink plastic box anywhere in order to have a quick wee. I'd rather go behind a tree. Or is she joking? I'm not sure. I know she put a smiley at the end but I don't always interpret them correctly.
I have a she wee which has been very useful, allows you to pee standing up like a bloke and with minimal disturbance of clothing. Would something like that be useful in your situation?
ante-diuretics ?
What's the circumstances of your travel, lyn? How come the loo access will be infrequent? How long will you be required to hold on? Difficult to advise otherwise.

My mother told me that the Queen used to take antidiuretics so she didn't need to wee during State events, but I don't know how true that was.
Like boxy, I have no idea of your problem, however, based on your post, ask your GP about desmopressin acetate tablets.........and good luck.
