Morning....silence is not golden....I have gone very, very deaf.
Started with whooshing noises in my ears which changed in volume depending on how I moved my head.

On Saturday my hearing suddenly became poor while I was driving....so much I thought my engine had cut out.

I saw a pharmacist who sold me some drops which were to do all sorts of crackling explosive things in my ears......nothing at all. I did ask about a decongestant but he said not to use that.

This morning the hissing is worse and I am even more deaf.

I have an appointment with the nurse on Friday....is there anything I can do or buy myself before then?

Thanks Gx

p.s. It has made me reluctant to speak....can't really hear my voice properly and think I'm shouting so I suppose every cloud.....☺

So sorry to 'hear' of your problem g, just a quick word though, if you do have to have grommets do not under any circumstances accept a Wallace.

Ron....I will take your advice to the next appointment....and tell them...
Ron said!....☺
Just glue ear then gness - haven't seen that since I did a Paed. ENT job :)
Was it both sides?
Anyway, hope it clears soon...
Question Author
Hi, Slaney....yep....glue ear and both sides. I really thought that was only found in children. Damned annoying.

Could take months to clear if at all she said, and if not then grommets.... I ask you.....is it God's way of telling me it's time I grew up?....☺
..or young at h(ear)t maybe!

I was just thinking that there has been practically no improvement /change in the treatment of glue ear in decades.
Question Author
☺☺...Oh I hope so!

You're right....I can remember so many children at school with it and that was forty years ago.....it was grommets then and I think they quite often fell out....I hope I'm sorted before it comes to that.
I should not have searched for "glue ear" on Google...

Months to clear up? That's not exactly good...
Question Author
Pardon, Jim?????
sorry about the ear problem gness but don't get paranoid and imagine we're all whispering about you
Question Author
Hmmmm...I wasn't til now, Ael....still I can rely on Baldric....he shouts at me every day.....☺
Seriously though, sounds like it's hearing problems for a while?
Question Author
Well the GP seemed to think that was more than likely, Jim...but we shall see......I'm looking on the bright side and assuming it will better by next week....☺
gness........not to upset the " apple art" but many ENT surgeons would insert the tubes NOW.....not wait for months......France, Spain and USA.

All gromet tubes fall out......anytime from 2 months to 2 years.

Glue ear is not that uncommon in adults.
LOL...applecart
Question Author
Right...thank you, Sqad. The GP said yesterday that sometimes it is up to a year before grommets are fitted....I ignored that because I have no intention of waiting so long.
So, I shall give the spray until next week then go back and put down the foot that is now well enough to stamp firmly....☺

Can we just pretend it is rare in adults.....I do so hate being run of the mill?

Gx
You could never be accused ofbeing run of the mill, gness. ..;-)
Question Author
Hi, Pixie.....☺....just found some drinking straws and having a little think!

Question Author
