Just shopped in our local Tesco today and the loud music playing was unbearable, apart from the noise the music track was awful went out without getting all I went in for, mentioned to the checkout girl about the music and she had to ask again what I was saying, feel sorry for the staff having to put up with that noise!

me too - they have jsut atrted playing it on the forecourt of the teco garage i use
It drives me nuts. It's bad enough not being able to have a conversation with your partner (eg "do you fancy X for supper") but sometimes they play it so loud you cant hear yourself think.
The staff tend to switch off, we just don't hear it until a customer points it out to us.
do they have or need a licence play it I wonder .
I've never heard any music being played in Tesco, well not the ones local to me anyway.

you've prob heard their well known song A Tesco here ATesco there latest supermarket dance
they do need a licence for the royalties to be paid to the performer/writer. Sometimes you hear some gems. I recently stopped to listen to Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas by Chet Baker with an astonishing trumpet solo. In any case, like junk mail it provides employment for someone.
I started using Aldi years ago because there was no music.....

The Co-op was quiet until they introduced Radio Co-op or whatever it is. I spoke to the manager so many times about the volume of it that he got sick of me and told me to come to the office when I started shopping and he would have it turned down.

If we all complain every time we shop perhaps it would stop.
How I agree with you!! Must admit I wasn't in the best of moods but went in to of all places M&S a few weeks ago and couldn't stand the volume of music. I suffer from Tinnitus and don't like quiet but this was stupid. Had I not been shopping for someone else I would have walked out.
