Strane that - I've just uninstalled Chrome. I didn't like it at all.

success, I found a site entitled ''xtreme downloads, Google Chrome'' .Thanks again for your lead.

Pleased to hear you are 'up and running' WR.
I'd be extremely cautious of downloading something as easily available as Chrome from somewhere calling itself xtreme downloads, why not just get it from www.google.co.uk/chrome

Fitzer, if you read my original thread you will see why.

Ron, do you mean this thread, if so, then I'm afraid it's not clear what the problem is, you have successfully downloaded and installed Chrome and when you open it you get the error? If so it would appear to be trying to logon using your Google ID (if you have one), I'd guess that you've possibly tried Chrome before and it's still in a cookie somewhere. Just type www.bbc.co.uk (or some other site) into the address bar and see what happens.
My point re. 'dubious' download sites is that they don't host downloads for free as bandwidth costs money, they usually add either advertising or toolbars to the installer or even malware and the like.

Fitzer, good point.
Just to follow up, I've just installed Chrome on a PC from the Google website and once installed one of the tabs it pops up is the address you give in your post and it is to login to Google so that all of your bookmarks are available if you use another computer with Chrome on it, if you don't want to do so just close the tab down.

Thanks Fitzer for going into more detail.
