I have a pain in my leg and I thought I had  pulled a muscle. It is at the back of my thigh and I have no idea how I did it. I have had it for about 4 weeks and have put off going to the doctor. When I sit down it feels like it is pulling and when I get up it takes a while for it to get going! I have no back pain and I know it is not sciatica as I also suffer with that. I just wondered if anyone knows what it is and if it is a pulled muscle then how long does it take to heal and  can a doctor do anything about it?

It sounds like you have pulled a muscle badly and it may take a while to heal.  However, I would definitely go to a doctor to have it checked out.  He/She might give you some advice on what you should or shouldn't be doing to aid healing.  Best wishes.

Not a great deal other than rest, you might get some benefit from massage bit of deep heat.

If you do sport make sure you warm up well

Best bet would be to visit your GP for diagnosis or referral jeepster.

Hope you feel better soon.
