I wash everything in machine, although separate colours. I do colours on 40 and whites 95. Everything goes in the drier except wool, silk and delicate things. I don't wrong anything, not sure why that's necessary? Maybe she needs to put it on a higher spin?
Wring anything...
a) Read the label's washing instructions then

b) Do 'em yourself :-)
^^ Best answer there. :o)
I can see you getting loads of posts saying you should not expect your wife to do it but should do it yourself. Whether this is fair or not being beside the point though. You can always go get them professionally cleaned. Or simply buy new each time.
i always use my worn once, 30 degree wash with mine and they come up fine.
its also a short spin and nothing gets too wrinkled.
Your washer should have a delicates setting. Modern man me!
Cotton isn't delicate, though, zac...
Cotton sweaters are notorious for getting baggy and misshapen after washing. Best solution is not to buy them in the first place.
Try putting each jumper inside a pillowcase for the wash.
pixie- do you wash all whites at 95°C? The labels on all our whites specify 40°C and that's usually sufficient but some white shirts, especially those of younger factors, look yellow/grey under the arms so I wonder whether it''d be safe to do the occasional hotter wash
Factor - cotton shirts and plain bed linen are fine at 95%
Yes, everything that's white. I ignore the labels (unless wool or something obviously delicate). They do stay white then. I haven't ruined anything yet :-)
I do everything at 40, whites and coloured, and often in the same wash - I know which garments leak and I hand wash those.

No idea why your wife is wringing T-shirts - ours come out of the machine ready to line or tumble-dry (according to washing instructions on each garment). Cotton is notorious for stretching, I'd line try that or hang it flat over the bath.

If she's so awful, why don't you do your own washing?
I might add, 95 is also good for the machine, it helps clear through the pipes and keeps the machine working. I did try not separating the whites and colours for a few months on a 40 wash, but did notice the whites greyed slightly, then.
Personally I think it depends on what detergent you use, too - 40 has never affected my whites. I agree a hot wash every few weeks is good for the machine, but I do mine when it's empty. I wouldn't waste the heating up the water on a normal wash.
DIY
best to do this yourself, and set the machine at a low temperature, because i have discovered the same, that cotton jumpers have shrunk, not too much, but just enough to make them unwearable.
Knitted cotton often shrinks in washing machines. Soak or dip in cold suds, drip dry and finish in tumble dryer to fluff up.
