Last week I went to visit one of my oldest friends (male) who was unwell. When I visit people I don't like to go empty handed - it is the way I was brought up. I took with me six iced buns I had made and handed them to his wife. The conversation went like this:
Wife - "why have you brought these?"
Me - "they are a present"
Wife - "but I don't like icing"
Me - "sorry, I didn't know that"
Wife - "you can get them out of my house now"

Like an idiot, I then meekly took them back to the car. I am still seething at her rudeness.

Did you return to the house?
Didn't you point out that it was inconsequential whether she liked icing as they weren't for her?

Incidentally she's quite clearly as mad as cheese anyway- who doesn't like icing?
Oh my god! What a cow! I don't know what else you could have done except maybe ignore her and offer one to your friend saying "I'm sure you'll like these." Or something.
Was the charm school closed when she applied. Pity you had not brought doughnuts .They you could have said do not speak to me like that. Were the buns not for the patient .Which make me think is some one not well only a patient when they are in hospital .
she's obviously had an unfortunate experience with an iced bun that has left her mentally scarred

This couple once came to our house for a meal. For a starter I had made broccoli and stilton soup. She took one look at it and said
"I can't eat that, it looks like sick."

She has no friends, which has never surprised me.
She sounds a bit like Doc Martin.
Is this rudeness a Yorkshire trait?
Mrs overload, I'll have them.
What did you do then, Mrs O? I hoped you whipped it out from under her nose and left her with nothing, while everyone enjoyed the soup for a long time, and left her out of the conversation.

Tilly, most of us Yorkshire folk are charm personified :-)

tony, giving you buns is not a good idea, given the size of your butt ;-)
Well you are mrs_0. It's just that you have some 'funny' friends.
Many years ago I worked in the hotel industry and you would be suprised at how many guests were just like this.....You should have licked the icing off in front of her and handed them back saying "is that better"?
MrIncredible,

I worked for most of my life in hotels and boy would I have loved to do that on more than one occation lol

Mrs O,

Next time hide the icing in the middle so she can't see it .....
Oi, my buns are very pert I'll have you know.
Because of the trend to use 'Text Speak' I have decided that in future all persons who act in the way described by mrs o will be referred to as IBs
( Ignorant Bitches). I don't think I have ever come in to contact with anyone as rude as that. Please direct all future ice buns in my direction I crave ice buns ( the only comment you will get out of me is wow thanks slurp slurp ).

WR.
What an absolute cow!
You were so kind and all you got must have felt like a slap in the face.
No wonder she hasnt got any friends!

I have to tolerate her as her husband is one of my dearest friends.

There have been so many times I could have cheerfully punched her lights out
Do you think he'd mind if you did mrs_o ?
