Is there a local leisure centre near you? they,ll have leaflets of all the activities they do like swimming gym  yoga etc, which shouldnt cost that much,Afew months ago i was just as bored as you and my friend reccommened the leisure centre but i thought it was just for swimming but they do allsorts of other things aswell i love it.

Do you live in London or near another big city.?
Museums,Art galleries, a lot of which are free.
If that's not your scene then cycling (the only cost is the bike)
Take up a hobby, painting and drawing. There are lots of places that do outdoor art courses in the summer and you only need a sketchbook and pencils.

Are there any rest homes near you?  There are a lot of elderly people that don't get any or many visitiors or you could just volunteer to read out loud to the people there if one on one was too intimidating.  Lots of older people have fantastic life stories if you listen and encourage them with simple questions.  Or volunteer to do shopping for elderly people near you.  They usually don't need much so if you live near shops it shouldn't be too much trouble to carry it.

Also visiting art gallery's or museums if they are on a bus route are great ways of spending time.

Babysitting is fun sometimes and while you might be at home it takes time to think of things to do with the kids.

Hope something helps!

Surfing. I know plenty of non car owners that do it. Cheap to start, and great great fun.
Why not write your autobiography!! You could put pictures and photos in it, make it really funny or true to life. Then you could dedicate it to your future grandchild or nephew/neice on their 18th birthday, and lock it in a box, saying "do not open until 2105". You will be long gone, but how amazing would that be to receive?!
Do volunteering work. Go to www.timebank.org.uk, they are flexible in the sense of what sector you want to help at, the times, the hours, the frequency and the location. That way you will get to meet new people, and feel like you are giving something back, always a "feel-good" factor.
