Hand Trouble :-(

Hello all. Yesterday afternoon, I had a strange sensation in my right hand. It came on all of a sudden. It started as a shooting pain, if my palm is facing upwards its the bottom left of my palm and spreading up towards my last 3 fingers. It then became a constant pain, and a few hours later intolerable. Any movement was unbearable, even moving my arm. I tried to put a bandage on to support it and at first it was throbbing, then it just went numb and tingly. I haven't knocked it or done anything different, but I've been wracking my brains wondering what it could be. This morning it is just the bottom left of my palm and little finger, but I now have the same in my left hand too. I'm finding it difficult to pick things up and even open the milk. Even typing this is a long painful process. Does anyone know what it might be? Or has anyone had anything similar? TIA

Nothing obvious or life threatening springs to mind.

I was thinking that but I can't seem to think for what and why? Especially in the left hand (I'm right-handed)
Question Author
Also it came on all of a sudden at about 4pm.
That is the problem....why both hands?

The only answer is wear and tear from the cervical spine (neck)...do you use the PC a lot at work or "slumped" over any gadget?
Sounds like rsi, i wouldn't think carpal tunnel would come on that quickly
pixie...carpal tunnel would involve the thumb.

I don't use a computer for work, only at home. I teach 3 - 5 year-olds so I'm on my feet all day. I really am trying to think if I've done anything different this week.

Thanks for all your help guys, it's really appreciated. If it's still the same on Monday, I may pay a visit to the docs.
could it be cubital tunnel syndrome?

The Winner.........in both hands?...............that would be a coincidence.

pixie...don't be so subservient.......you make me feel like a RAT...;-)
