I know it's a bit of a cliché but I am.

I eat well, don't sleep that well and I exercise almost every day but just lately, I feel I could sleep on a clothesline. It usually hits at about four o'clock in the afternoon and I really begin to feel my feet dragging.

Don't want to go to the doctors with TAT!

Have you had your thyroid function checked Tilly ?
It may not be that but worth ruling in or out .

\\\\Don't want to go to the doctors with TAT!\\\
Who is TAT?

You need some blood tests to rule out some obvious treatable conditions.

See your GP
Tilly you know you ought to go , I am sure. It might be due to the cold snap...or you might be anaemic. It could be hormonal..any number of things. It is wise to get checked if it persists.
Are you eating enough protein?
GPs are well used to seeing patients presenting with TATT.
There are a few simple tests which can be done to exclude anything serious.
Question Author
Sqad I typed it wrongly. I believe the acronym is TATT. Tired all the time.

Tilly..........;-)
Could be dehydration, that is how it affects me in the wintertime
Question Author
I thought I might be overdoing it. Maybe I should have retired when it was time rather than carrying on working.
Maybe it's just the time of year. If it continues, I will go to the GP.
I just feel so shattered tonight, I wanted some reassurance or needed bullying!
Could be your age. Most middle aged or elderly want a short nap in the afternoon.
Question Author
Is that really true? Do the middle aged and elderly have a nap in the afternoon?
Well if you don't want to go to the doc, then Berocca might be worth a try for a short term lift. I had norwalk, then post viral fatigue then 24 hours of wellness then the cold from hell then post viral fatigue again. Berocca is the only thing that has helped me.

What's Berroca, woofgang? A herbal remedy?
Hey, dont worry Till, I've never napped in the afternoon, and I' an old fart! x lol
Question Author
Sleeping in the afternoon would be the beginning of the end in my estimation.
Berrocca's a vitamin C tablet. Sounds to me like a drop in blood sugar levels. I always gat rsvevous at 4pm onthe dot. Maybe you're not eating the right foods that give you sustainable energy throughout the day.
Meant ravenous. Excuse typos as on phone
I nap most days and I'm only 44. I think it is more due to my insomnia though.

Could you be suffering from S.A.D. Tilly? If you have one of those natural daylight lamps it might be worth trying that for a few hours around lunchtime.
what kind of heating do you have in the house Tilly ?
And does anyone else always feel tired ?
It is very common to take a nap and in fact they recommend you do:

Have you seen Ken Clarke in the house of Commons. He often drifts off!
