I have never been convinced by any scientific studies that wine, red OR white has any beneficial effects on the blood vessels of the heart.......sorry!
Mine must be in a very bad state then :) I don't drink red or white wine! only mulled wine at Christmas!
As far as I know, the red wine contains anti-oxidants and white wine doesn't.
Anti-oxidants are claimed, by some, to slow the ageing process. I've never seen the results a definitive trial though.
Red wine appears to be an old-wives tale, readily believed for obvious reasons. Similarly, years ago there was an advert which announced that 'Guinness is Good For You'. For many, this provided a good excuse to put on their caps and mufflers for the pub. Vance Packard, in his 'Hidden Persuaders' called this 'satisfaction without guilt'. It's all very persuasive, but where is the real evidence?
Check out "Resveratrol". Extracted from Red grapes and Japanese knotweed. There's some controversy over its benefits to humans due to low bio-availability but there's been some interesting research done on nematode worms and mice. ie Lifespan +30-50% !!!
So... red wine benefits exo- and endoparasites?. That's good news for tapeworms. Port and lemon type ladies please note.
