there is an event which requires a lot of physical activity and overall stuff that would be more enjoyable if I did not have my monthly period, it's in July, and my period is scheduled to start the exact day the event starts, and end the exact day it ends. I would do just about anything except sell my soul not to get it on that day. is there anything I can do to alter my period just this one time to get it earlier or later so I can enjoy the week? like, I dont know, eating a lot of one thing or, doing something else? I would appreciate suggestions very much. (I have also been told the birth control pill works, but that option is less than desireable to me.)

the doctor can perscribe tablets which will delay your period but i think they will be similar to the contraceptive pill as they have to stop a natural occurance in your body.

If you're already on the pill, you can shuffle your dates a wee bit.  However, when you initially start taking the pill, you take your first tablet on the first day of your next period - so that wouldn't help.

Maybe get some feminax (or whatever it's called) for any pain, and those tampax compacts are a god send!!! :-)

the only way to do it is the pill i'm afraid

I had the same prop when i went on my hols! My GP Gave me some tablets (not the pill) more of a hormone replacement I think and there called Norethisterone they come in 5mg! I had to take 3 a day (morning, lunch, bed) They really helped me!!! You can take them for however long you want and come off them when you want!!! Book and appointment to see your doc pronto!

Samx

Ps another good thing to do - if you think you may need some more is say your off on ur hol's too! Keep them stocked up - they always come in handy I find!

I'm not a big fan of messing around with your hormones either, but going on the pill for six weeks was worth it to have an uncomplicated holiday (small caravan + two small boys = best avoided!)

I think I had to start taking it on the first day of the previous period, and then just keep taking it for six weeks (ie delaying the next period for two weeks). Then you come on 3 days after stopping it. Worked for me! But you'd better check it out v soon as July is nearly here...........
