A former mate left my school. Since leaving we have gone, erm lets just say in different directions and we are not really clicking anymore (in my opinion). Problem is this now in-your-face rude girl is under the impression i am still comfortable as her friend; i really dont like her anymore! My first request is: how do i break it to her gently that i no longer wish to keep contact (be invited to parties were one of the entry conditions is to get your tits out - i dont think so).

Second thing is: i met her today for the first time in 3 months and she proceeds in grabbing my diray and taking it home with her for, as she put it, "a good read". How the eff do I get it back?!? I never she her and now know my most intimate details will be spread around my town as quickly as you can say "im dead". Argh!! Please help before im done for murdering a chav!

maybe arrange to meet her at her house to get your diary back, then send a short simple text saying that the two of you are too different now and that you feel your friendship cant go any further, i recently had to do this myself and it was a relief!

if you dont get the diary back then maybe you have a juicy tit bit about her you can use to get it back or get back at her? if all else fails a bit of chav bashing sounds very well deserved!

Yes!! get round her house and ask for it back now! I'd go ballistic if anyone did that to me!

As for the rest, it's a difficult situation.  Firstly, good on you for realising that this is not the crowd you want to hang out with and for standing up for yourself rather than being a sheep.

I think you have two options, you can either tell her straight (after retrieving the diary) or just simply lessen the contact step by step.  Turn down invites to parties, be busy with other people etc.

Without knowing the ins and outs of your friendship, i would possibly suggest the latter, simply because, when you get older, you bump into many people that you thought you'd never see again and life's all the easier if you didn't have a row with them the last time you saw them.  Good Luck

send her a link to this question, that should do it!

Thanks people! Although im pretty sure the police would have little objection to be dabbling in a bit of chav bashing, i have decided to go for the break it to her gently route. I think i might suddenly turn up at her house, invite myself in, take the diary and promtly leave; rather like she did.

Thanks for advise!

did you get your diary back!?

Not yet Englishbird but i'm sure as hell working on it! I appeared on her door step, all ready to demand my essential privacy from anyone other than my cat, only to have the door opened by her mother. "Sorry, she's out, you know what she's like... we haven't seen you round here for a while how are you?... would you like to leave a messege?" Hmm, tell your theiving daughter that if i dont get my diary back i may just be forced to bring out the year seven school photos in her catholic school girl uniform and pass them round all her new "tough" mates? "Erm... no, that's ok"
